Airplanes and Nebulae

An image of the Triffid Nebula with an airplane moving through the frame
Hello, airplane! David Knighton

There's a lot of "stuff" up there in the sky in addition to the objects astronomers are usually trying to view. This photo is a live stack (about 3 minutes here) of the Triffid Nebula. The lines and red dots over it are from an airplane that flew through the field of view during an exposure.

At least it wasn't Starlink.
